WATCH: OFW nirekalmo ang kapwa OFW na sinisiraan siya sa social media

“Think before you click” this is probably the most overused yet very meaningful saying nowadays, especially after the social media has become a part of our everyday lives. With just one post of a malicious statement, a person can spread false information or worst, destroy someone’s reputation.
An Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) from Saudi Arabia seeks the help of veteran broadcaster Raffy Tulfo to complain about his fellow-Filipino co-worker who is allegedly spreading malicious rumors about him on social media.
According to Marjun Ababol, his co-worker John Paul Palena is disseminating information that he is working abroad as a prostitute and that he is infected with HIV. The said news reached Marjun’s family, friends, and neighbors back home in Mindanao which totally ruined his reputation.
Marjun explained that he and John Paul had a previous rift at work; allegedly, John Paul created a fake account using his name and photo to spread the said rumors. Marjun said he discovered that John Paul is the one who created it after the latter accidentally sent him a screenshot to prove his responsibility on the said libelous crime.
When the program called John Paul, he denied all the allegations and suggested that since both of them recently got promoted, some of their co-workers probably envy their success and trying to make them fight.
Tulfo said that they will forward such concern to the Cybercrime Unit of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group) to trace the real culprit who created the fake account.
